About GMA

GMA” stands for Grandmaster Abraham who is the owner and primary instructor. Grandmaster Abraham Quartey-Papafio is a 7th Dan Black Belt and has taught for over 40 years.  Grandmaster Abraham has trained individuals to be World Champions and Olympic Representatives, and he even spent time in Nigeria training its navy in the art of Taekwondo. He played an instrumental part in helping organize both the Nigerian and Ghana Taekwondo Federations.

Having moved to the United States over five years ago, Great Grandmaster Abraham brings a wealth of talent and experience that he incorporates into the art of Taekwondo.  He has seen modifications and differences taught in some schools and is resolved to staying true to the traditions and original intent of Taekwondo. He does not simply run a gym and offer Taekwondo as an after school activity.  He keeps and expects his students to stay true to the honored methods and teachings of true Taekwondo.

As a young Master, Abraham advocated for the sport of Taekwondo  to be included in the Olympics. The sport made its debut as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Seoul Games and became an official medal sport at the 2000 Sydney Games. He was also responsible in the development of both the Ghana and Nigerian Taekwondo Federations.

Abraham has developed long-lasting relationships with former students and communicates often via today’s new technology as his students are literally scattered in various countries throughout the world including Iceland, England, South Korea, Nigeria, Ghana, Canada and the US.  Many of his students have carried on his legacy by becoming Masters and Grandmasters with their own Dojos and contact their Great Grandmaster for advice regularly.
